Welcome!

Have you had a day recently where you just did not feel good about yourself?

This happens to me more than I want to admit. So today, I wanted to share some quick tips to boost your confidence on the days where you’re just not feeling it.

We all have those days where nothing feels quite right and our confidence takes a hit.

It can feel like there’s nothing you can do about it, but a few small actions can make a bigger difference than you think.

Get Off Your Phone

Phone placed face down while spending quality time outdoors.

We all spend too much time on social media. I know I sure do. Social media really doesn’t help on these days though.

We only see the highlights of people’s lives when in reality, a day is much longer than a 20-second reel from an influencer.

We are living in a world where technology is everywhere. And technology creates constant noise, so much that it’s hard to escape.

Putting the phone down can clear that noise and give you some space to think.

Drink Some Water

This probably sounds really unimportant and kind of nonsensical, right?

But drinking some water is not so much about the action itself. It’s about the little boost you get from doing so.

Drinking some water is a small but impactful way of reminding yourself that self-care matters.

It’s such a simple act, but it can feel surprisingly grounding when you’re having an off day.

Change Your Space

Morning sunlight streaming through sheer bedroom curtains during a healthy morning routine.

Sometimes you just need a new environment for a little refresh.

Maybe you’re just sick of being stuck in the same room or house and you don’t even realize it. A change in space can really help on days like these.

Shifting your environment to somewhere new can also feel like a shift in your mindset. A mindset shift is really what we’re going for to boost our confidence.

All you need to do is go to a different room, sit near a window, or step outside.

And if you can’t actually go somewhere else to change your space, just opening a window can do wonders.

It’s summertime, and a little sunshine and fresh air can be surprisingly refreshing. Natural light really does hit different.

Minimal Appearance Reset

This isn’t about looking perfect. It’s about feeling good and a bit uplifted. A little appearance refresh can do wonders.

Sitting around in old pajamas and messy hair usually doesn’t help much when you’re already feeling off.

All you need is about five minutes. That’s it. You can definitely take five minutes for a quick appearance reset.

Wash your face, brush your hair, change your clothes. A shower can also work, but that’s probably gonna take longer than five minutes.

This can help you feel a bit more put together and more in control of your life.

That feeling can give you a massive confidence boost on the days you really need it. Probably my favorite tip so far.

Put On Your Confidence Music

I will always stand by the saying that music makes everything better. Try it out for yourself.

Some upbeat music can be a huge mood booster. When your mood improves, your confidence often follows.

Dancing around your room for a few minutes can also really help. Even a few moments of movement can boost your mood and energy.

And being happy can really only help your confidence.

One Small Win

Sometimes when you don’t feel the best about yourself, you have a tendency to feel like you can’t really do anything.

I know that when I’m having a day like this, I can’t seem to focus on anything.

All you need is one super small win to break that cycle.

Open your laptop and write a thesis statement for your essay.

Reply to an email you have been ignoring.

Take five minutes and organize your folders.

These are the kinds of tasks that take maybe five minutes but can help break a negative cycle.

Small actions create momentum, and momentum can completely change the direction of your day.

Eat Something

What you eat, or sometimes what you don’t eat, affects you a lot more than you think. In the chaos of everyday life, it’s kind of easy to just forget about something like diet.

That’s coming from experience.

When I first started high school and kept staying up until midnight every night to do homework, I would typically also eat dinner while doing homework. I was focused on the work, not the food, so I ended up eating very little.

I can definitely say it affected my energy. It also made me irritable and it was much harder to focus.

Energy affects mindset more than we tend to realize, so maybe what you really need is to eat something.

Get Outside

It’s summertime. It’s the perfect time of year to get outside. The benefits of getting outside are not to be underestimated.

Even a short amount of time outside can make a noticeable difference in how you feel.

Whenever I’m having one of those days, I go for a run.

There’s just something about being outside that helps me reset. Getting outside reminds me that there’s a whole world beyond whatever I’m stressing about.

The weather is so incredibly nice out this time of year. You can go on a walk or run, go to the pool with your friends, have a picnic, go to a park, and so much more.

Even just stepping outside and soaking up the sun is enough.

Spend Some Time On Hobbies

As a busy student, it’s unfortunately really easy to forget about having a life outside of being a student.

Schools, clubs, homework, sports, possibly a job, and everything else leaves very little time for other activities.

Having hobbies and an identity outside of school is so incredibly important. Yes, you’re in high school. You do need to study and do stuff, but you’re also trying to figure out who you are.

Don’t forget that.

Conclusion

These kinds of days don’t completely erase your confidence. Everyone has them. One bad day doesn’t undo all the progress you’ve made.

Building confidence is a lifelong process, and setbacks are just a part of it.

You’re not supposed to be perfect every day. You’re supposed to be you.
